Morphology
About
Anthurium forgetii 'Variegated' is a stunning, compact understory aroid native to Colombia. Highly prized in collector circles, it is famous for its distinctive, nearly round, sinusless leaves that feature a plush velvety texture and contrasting pale venation. The rare variegated form is adorned with breathtaking cream-to-yellow marbling and sectoral variegation splashed across its deep green leaf blades. In cultivation, it performs best in warm, highly humid conditions with a very airy, well-draining substrate and bright indirect light.

Market Analysis & Price Guide
Historical auction metrics and live online retailer listings updated weekly.
How prices are calculated: The AA Price uses verified eBay UK completed auction data — we take the trimmed mean (removing the top and bottom 20% of prices) to produce a fair-value guide that excludes outlier sales. When recent auction data is unavailable, the AA Price falls back to the current UK retail average from tracked stockists. Retail prices are scraped from active UK plant shop listings and reflect what you would pay buying directly from a retailer today. All prices are in GBP and updated automatically.

The Circular Jewel of Colombia
Anthurium forgetii is instantly recognizable because it completely lacks the upper sinus (the lobes at the top of the leaf are fused, making it almost circular). The green velvet texture is outstanding, but the variegated cultivar adds a new dimension with splashes of yellow and cream. A 2019 genetic study on Colombian understory aroids highlighted the species' unique leaf geometry as a highly specialized design to reduce water accumulation on the leaf blade, preventing fungal growth. In cultivation, it is slow and demands extremely high humidity.
