Market Analysis & Price Guide
Historical auction metrics and live online retailer listings updated weekly.
How prices are calculated: The AA Price uses verified eBay UK completed auction data — we take the trimmed mean (removing the top and bottom 20% of prices) to produce a fair-value guide that excludes outlier sales. When recent auction data is unavailable, the AA Price falls back to the current UK retail average from tracked stockists. Retail prices are scraped from active UK plant shop listings and reflect what you would pay buying directly from a retailer today. All prices are in GBP and updated automatically.

The Undulating Prince
One finds oneself quite taken with *Alocasia princeps*, a recent introduction from Borneo by the indefatigable W. Bull. This rather handsome specimen, with its upright, architectural habit, certainly adds a certain gravitas to the glasshouse. The leaves are a most distinctive sagittate, almost triangular, with margins so strongly undulated they practically dance in the humid air—a charming adaptation to its tropical clime, one presumes. Beneath, a remarkable deep purplish-green often shades to copper, a subtle surprise. Its petioles, often beautifully mottled, lend further interest. Requires warmth and high humidity, mind, definately not one for a draughty British winter. Still, worth the trouble for such a regal, coriaceous presence.
